Sitting in Mrs. Mathews 6th grade social studies class, Sr. Janet, the principal came bursting through the door and turned the TV on before going to the the next classroom. My classmates and myself were happy, our mindset was that anything is better than social studies. We soon realized we were wrong, and the room grew still. I remember not even knowing what the world Trade Centers were or where they were. On the TV stood a smoking building, and about five minutes after watching a second plane flew into the other tower, destroying hope of it being an accident.
Two buildings that I had never even known about had been attacked by terrorists and now I was watching Americans jump from 60+ stories. I was scared; scared because I had never experienced such vulnerability. Looking to my teachers, parents even the president, for the first time I wasn't comforted in knowing that everything would be okay.

7 Deadly Sins
Lust |
Sloth |
Greed |
Wrath |
Gluttony |
Gluttony part II |
Pride |
Pride II |
Envy This project was not my favorite. I went into worrying my pictures would look too staged and although I tried to not let that happen, I think it might have. It was hard to convey the emotions with limited scenes. My favorite even though it's the most subtle is lust, greed, envy, and pride. The hardest was wrath because both of my models had a hard time showing anger. |

Artist Lecture: Studio Art Faculty Talk
On September 22nd, I attended a Gallery Talk at the Museum of Art, University of New Hampshire. At this talk, three faculty members spoke about their pieces in the exhibit, Julee Holcombe (photography), Benjamin Cariens (sculpture), and Grant Drumheller (painting). I found this lecture, which only lasted an hour to be very interesting and to the point. Each artist only had about 20 minutes to talk about their body of work which only allowed for a brief explanation of each piece. In Julee's presentation I found her method of picture taking to be interesting, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that she takes all of her own pictures which she uses in her master compilation. What I liek about Julee's work is that you could stare at each pictures endlessly and still be able to find new things. In Grant's presentation I found him to be very humorous and matter of fact in the way he explained his work and the reason behind it. when I went ot view the Museum on my own I found his work to be exceptional, beautiful and inspriring. He is able to translate images from his mind onto canvas and make it even more beautiful than real life. Coming away from his exhibit I had a real appreciation and respect for his work because of my own lack of artistic ability. Benjamin's exhibit was mind blowing in the sense that I hadn't ever come across that type of sculpture. Everything he explained about his work and the process he uses to create it was new and interesting to me. His work was very abstract and held a lot of meaning behind it. I liked his "A Dream for Ophelia" best. There was something eery but innocent about his body of work. The white, empty dresses and shoes left my mind to wander. Overall, I thought the whole Gallery Talk was interesting, it had a good turn out with an attentive and curious audience. You could tell all the people who showed up to hear the talk really wanted to be there and weren't bored.

Flenaur
Once again I found myself stuck on this assignment. From class I gathered that Flenaur was basically street photography, the decisive moment. But after reading about it more on the internet it seemed to me that it was more about thinking about you composition more like a painting. So for my contact sheet you will say a mix of street photography and a wide variety of different places and landscapes.
